Thank your teachers (have a Kleenex ready for this one)

Dear Heaven Maker:

Do you remember the teachers who made a difference in your life?
I do.

Ms. Marshall: My grade two teacher.  I’m still in touch with her.

Mr. Boich:  My teacher in grades 7 & 8.  I always felt he saw me, he saw into me.  He expected a lot from me and I rose to meet that standard.  I’m still in touch with him.

Father Tony Firetto:  He taught the first ever counselling psychology course in my university and I was in that class.  The next year he asked me to be his teaching assistant.  I’d never dreamt of becoming a teaching assistant. I thought only graduate students did that. He saw something in me and wanted to bring it out.He died at 38, too, too young.  I made a vow that I would light a candle in his honour whenever I went into a Catholic church, for the rest of my life….and I’ve done that.

As I’m writing this blog, my memory is flashing on a bunch of other teachers whose names I’ve sadly forgotten.

There have also been teachers in my life outside of academia who deeply impacted me: Bob Branscom, Werner Erhard, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Jack Canfield, my parents, my wife.

What teacher(s) had a large positive influence on you?

I invite you to honour them in a way that brings forward their memory and allows you to experience the gifts they gave you.

You are a part of their Heaven on Earth and they are a part of your heaven on earth.
