Dear Heaven Maker:
The Binational School of Psychotherapy brings together Palestinian and Israeli psychotherapists, teaching them the newest youth mental health and trauma healing techniques. Its purpose is to heal future generations.
It is jointly led by Dr. Esti Galili-Weisstub, Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hadassah Hospital, and Dr. Shafiq Masalha, an Arab Israeli clinical psychotherapist.
The school has quickly gained traction because healthcare builds bridges to peaceful coexistence. It is the only area of civil society where both Israelis and Palestinians meet on such a broad scale and on equal terms – a place of mutual respect.
The school will become a World Health Organization accredited school, training and preparing 60 Israeli and Palestinian post graduate psychotherapists (psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers) in a 42-month cycle. The students are exposed to a wide variety of interventions to help them uplevel and enhance their careers in clinical and child psychotherapy. They recognize that a change to the status quo is necessary, achievable, and morally right.
The School will:
• Contribute to cross-border learning and cooperation between Israeli and Palestinian mental health professionals.
• Increase interaction between Israeli and Palestinian professionals, enhancing mutual confidence.
• Improve the mental health of conflict-affected children and adolescents.
The vision of Project Rozana, a major funder of the school, is: A Middle East in which Israelis and Palestinians have built the trust necessary to live together in mutual respect, dignity, peace and security.
I found this video deeply moving because it shows people we usually see in opposition to each other, coming together as ONE!
Watch the video…it will do your Soul good!
