In all the years I’ve been working on Project Heaven on Earth and asking the 3 Heaven on Earth Questions I’ve noticed certain patterns in people’s answers.
One of the very distinct issues that keeps arising is that people have a tough time thinking about how to make the institutions of society (Business, Religion, Education, Science & Technology, Health Care, Media, etc.) take their rightful place in co-creating Heaven on Earth. (In my upcoming book, Project Heaven on Earth, I devote an entire chapter to this topic.)
It’s almost as if it’s easier to have Heaven on Earth for the entire world than it is to have Heaven on Earth for an institution.
Imagine if I asked you to have an institution of society (Religion, Government, Media, etc.) clearly be an agent for Heaven on Earth.
Notice your reaction. Most people say it’s impossible, it’s overwhelming, it’s simply too big.
People feel powerless in the face of an institution. They feel hopeless.
But our thoughts about powerlessness and futility are a story we tell ourselves and stories can and do change.
That’s why this week’s Heaven Maker is so inspiring.
Lara Setrakian has committed to fix the broken news industry so, in my words, it can be part of the solution to helping co-create Heaven on Earth.
As you watch her talk, think about an institution you’d like to transform and think about one simple, easy, concrete action you will take in the next 24 hours to begin that process.
If we all believe there’s nothing we can do to have our institutions be agents of Heaven on Earth, we’ll be right. If, however, we commit to making a difference in even just one institution, to causing the change we long to see, and if we get others to join us, then our community can and will make a profound difference.
Let me know what institution you’re going to take on.
Thanks Lara for being a Heaven Maker.
