Dear Heaven Maker:
Jim Selman is a dear friend and one of the smartest and humblest people I know.
I remember hearing him speak once after which I jumped to my feet clapping. What was so interesting to me is that I hadn’t consciously decided to do that. My body, on its own, jumped because of what I’d just heard him saying.
A couple of weeks ago Jim read my blog and wrote me. I was so touched by his note that I asked him to write a column.
Thanks Jim.
Enjoy.
Martin

Once upon a time, an evil King woke every day to tell his people why everything was messed up, why he wasn’t to blame for all their problems and to fuel indecisiveness and anger in the land. When they protested he promised them a better life in the distant future, he said it would be the best future in history.
One day a bunch of people called citizens got together and agreed that there had to be a better Rutte to this wonderful future and that if they waited for the King to make it happen, it wouldn’t happen until their next life time.
So they employed a consultant named Merlin to advise them. He said, “Why don’t you imagine that perfect place, and then see it as a real possibility and commit to living every days AS IF it were already NOW. In other words, start from the way you want it to be and then live as if you are already there”.
They did and suddenly realized that from the point of view of the future, everything is already perfect in the present and the more we be present to what this presence is, the more we realize how perfect we are and then discover that life, every day, can be an experience of perfection in every area of life.
Even the King is a perfect archetype of what life looks like when we forget that Heaven isn’t a destination, its an opening in the Cosmos where love is all there is and everyone is grateful for the miracle of being alive. Heaven is all there is. Heaven is love.
