Dear Heaven Maker:
In his book Heaven: The Heart’s Deepest Longing, philosopher Peter Kreeft talks about ways that we can know Heaven here on Earth.
One way, he says, is by seeing values being lived: Beauty, Wisdom, Love, Truth, Goodness, etc.
These are values we know and have experienced.
But then Professor Kreeft adds another value that completely blew me away – Play!!!
“Of course,” I shouted to myself….”of course.” That’s why I love playing so much. It gives me the experience of Heaven, here, now.
He continues: “Play images heaven by transcending time; it doesn’t matter how long it takes because it has no goal beyond its own activity. It is not like climbing a mountain; it is like just walking or exploring or breathing or singing; better yet, it is living–you are quite happy never to come to the end.”
Which brings me to this week’s video. Just watch it and see if you’re not smiling, if your Soul is not jumping for joy, if you forget time…..in short….if you are in the direct experience of Heaven on Earth.
