Christy Whitman is a coach, a transformational leader, and the CEO and founder of The Quantum Success Coaching Academy. She’s trained over 3,000 coaches.
I met her years ago and we started talking about her love of expensive purses. At the time, I remember thinking, “How can she be so materialistic and yet so clearly spiritual?” She told me that years ago, when she started out in business, she saw a Coach purse that she fell in love with. It was $400 at the time, a LOT of money for her. She thought, “How can I get that purse and grow?” The idea appeared instantly, “Give up smoking.” She gave up smoking and with the money she saved she bought the purse.
This taught her a very important life lesson. When a desire pops into your awareness (eg. the purse), and you can authentically tie it to a Divine desire (to grow), then following the guidance you receive will lead you in your growth and expansion. It is the pursuit of who you have to become to attain that desire that is the key here.
In her new book The Desire Factor, Christy explores how the authentic Divine desire for the material is linked to the spiritual. Christy is not saying that we should only pursue the materialistic. She is saying that allowing the Divine Desire to flow into us, and then going for it, causes us to grow. The Desire Factor can also be for a non-material want. Christy shares about Marianne Williamson’s Divine Desire to become President of the United States which caused her to grow and expand.
Christy makes it very clear, “It’s not the desire from someone else, from culture, from the media. It’ the desire from the Divine.
When you hear the call from the Divine, many people think, ‘I can’t do that,’ ‘Who am I to do that?,’ ‘It’s so materialistic.’ That thinking shuts down the Divine call. By following the Divine desire, there is growth, there is expansion. Energy, Life, flows through us.”
Christy wants us to follow the Divine Desire. That’s what her book The Desire Factor is all about.
