More than 60% of the world’s oceans lie outside territorial waters.
That means no nation, no individual, is responsible for this vast area of our home planet.
Think of it….more than 60% of the world’s oceans lie outside national territorial waters.
Part of being engaged with Heaven on Earth is being responsible for more than you think/believe you are.
All of us draw some line in our lives beyond which we believe we are not and cannot be responsible.
But isn’t that just a belief?
Why then are some people responsible for more than others are…the Pope for the entire Catholic Church, the Secretary General of the United Nations for all the nations in the world?
Why do some people take on the ending of a suffering? There are individuals and organizations in the world who say, ‘’We’re responsible for ending hunger”, “We’re responsible for the end of slavery” or “We’re responsible for the end of homelessness.”
They do it because they want the suffering to end once and for all.
They are committed to the result not to the impossibility.
And the basis of their commitment is they declare it — they say so.
It’s time…the video above shows it is time…to be responsible for cleaning up the world’s oceans. Why? Because the oceans belong to all of us and each of us. They are part of the global commons. They are a life giving source — fishing, transportation, enjoyment.
Would you be willing to commit to the result of having clean oceans? And from that commitment would you be willing to see what simple, easy, concrete action you will take to do that, to discover the ‘baby step’ you can take to begin moving in that direction?
If the world says the oceans outside our country are not ours to be responsible for then we have the situation we have today.
If the world says I/We are responsible for having clean, healthy oceans, then that commitment actually begins shifting the situation.
I know I’m responsible….I invite you to also be.
