How to be an adult

What a ‘Bar Mitzvah’ is for a young Jewish boy, a ‘Bat Mitzvah’ is for a young Jewish girl.

It’s a coming of age, when a child becomes an adult in the eyes of the community.

Bat Mitzvah means ‘Daughter of the Commandment’ and she now has all the rights and obligations of a Jewish adult, including the commandments of the Torah.

What advice would you give to a Bat Mitzvah girl at this important milestone in her life on what it means to be an adult?

I was very moved by what this uncle, who is also a Rabbi, said to his niece. He speaks humorously and poignantly about the importance of listening, how happiness is within, and more.

The uncle, Rabbi Brian Zachary Mayer, is a dear and old friend with a very unique take on religion…what he calls, ‘Religion Outside the Box.’ He sends out a regular blog which I just love. You can sign up for free here.

What advice would you give a young woman or man on how to be an adult? Let us know.

Please share this with 1 or 2 people you think would be interested.
